TkSQLite is a GUI database manager for SQLite implemented by Tcl/Tk.
It can manage SQLite version2.8 and SQLite version3.x database. And it can handle many
encodings like Shift-JIS, EUC-JP and Windows native milti-byte
encodings not only UTF-8. And it can run on Windows and Linux
and MacOSX as native Look & Feel. And it's Freeware.
** Features [#oefefad8]
-Support SQLite2.8 and SQLite3.x db.
-Support many encodings not only utf-8.
-Edit table with grid table.
-Change table schema.
-Show images in BLOB data.(Sqlite3)
-Syntax keyword hilighting.
-Native Look & Feel.
-Japanese and English locale.
-Many functions (md5, sha1, des, etc. see SQLite user function)
-Run on any platform Tcl/Tk can.
-Attach and Detach Database.
-Export and Import CSV.

-Support loadable extension.
**Requirements [#requirements]
-Tcl/Tk8.4+:http://www.tcl.tk/
-Tile0.7+:http://tktable.sourceforge.net/tile/(not required for Tcl/Tk8.5)
-or tclsqlite3:http://www.sqlite.org/
-TkTable2.9+:http://tktable.sourceforge.net/
-Dict8.5+:http://pascal.scheffers.net/software/(not required for Tcl/Tk8.5)
-Treectrl2.1+:http://sourceforge.net/projects/tktreectrl/ (if tksqlite is 0.4, it requires Tablelist0.5+ instead of treectrl)
-tkImg:http://sourceforge.net/projects/tkimg/ (required for reading image data. it is optional. if it is not installed, you can read GIF format only.)
-Trf:http://sourceforge.net/projects/tcltrf and Tcllib:http://sourceforge.net/projects/tcllib/ (required for MD5 , SHA1, DES, Base64 and other crypt functions. but it is optional.)
NOTE:~
Tablelist4.5+ is still required by tksqlite 0.4.
But tksqlite 0.5 requires Treectrl2.1+ instead of Tablelist.
ActiveTcl:http://www.activestate.com/Products/activetcl/index.mhtml has all of these precompiled extensions. I really recommend to install it if you are not familiar with tcl/tk environment.
** Uninstall [#d64566fc]
remove tksqlite.tcl and, rm ~/.tksqlite on linux or %APPDATA%/tksqlite/.tksqlite on windows

*** Loading tcl script functions. [#ye1814e3]
tksqlite 0.5 can load tcl script functions. The interface is tclsqlite.
You can access the db command. It is just a sqlite database command.
But don't use another sub commands except for db function, because
the command is used by tksqlite. Don't rename and free the command too.
The loading process is
+ db is opened.
+ default sqlite functions is installed.
+ registerd tcl scripts are sourced.
Example:
~
plus.tcl
proc plusProc {a b} {
if {[string is double $a] && [string is double $b]} {
return [expr {$a + $b}]
}
return [append a $b]
}
db function plus plusProc
Register this script in Preference Dialog, and check Enable.
Then open a database file and You can use the plus func.
select plus(1,1)
returns 2
select plus(1, 'abc')
returns '1abc'

-i'm using the latest one version of tksqlite. i'm suggesting only that you should somehow handle tables depended on virtual one, i mean these created automatically (with sufixes like: _content, _segdir and _segments) by sqlite engine, i think they should be as a subnodes of virtual table (because 'drop table' removes, together with virtual table, those depended tables automatically too. - Hi, there! I tried 0.5.11 for Windows and it even imported a CSV file containing lots of UTF-8 entries correctly, unlike all the other programs I tried - Well done!! But I didn't find an option to delete a table - is that an oversight or this omission by design? Anyway, thanks a lot for this amazing program!! -- Bernd &new{2014-04-19 (Sat) 11:33:21};
-- right-click a table icon in the tree view or menu->database->delete table/view, and select a menu to delete table/view. -- reddog &new{2014-04-21 (月) 07:03:01};
- In ver 0.5.11 SHIFT-CONTROL-DOWN to mark text downwards in fact goes UP. I can diminish the editor text, but is there a way to get the table data smaller? I miss a single button to get back to standardized grid measures when "distorted". When working with multiple tkSQLite instances I could fancy several different colour schemes for easier distinction like white canvas with grey frames versus white with pink frames or white with light green frames. Apart from that it is a suberb program that I prefer against all others. -- jwh &new{2014-05-10 (Sat) 23:57:15};
-- The Shift-Ctl-Down is a bug of Tcl/Tk, Try tksqlite0.5.11-1 wrapped using Tcl/Tk8.6.1. -- reddog &new{2014-05-12 (Mon) 22:26:43};
- Thank you for continuing to work on your great program! Been using it for many years. Now I wonder if you can add support for the built in unicode61 tokenizer? SQLITE_ENABLE_FTS4_UNICODE61 -- abraham &new{2014-05-22 (Thu) 12:33:04};
-- OK. I have done that. Try tksqlite0.5.11-2. -- reddog &new{2014-05-23 (Fri) 22:40:12};
- Awesome! Thank you for doing that reddog. May I offer some ideas for a future version if you think any of them might be useful? 1. add Run SQL (current line) and RunSQL (current statement) to SQL Command context menu. 2. option to show table record count (in brackets) next to table name. 3. allow delete key in command history window. 4. add confirm dialog to Delete All option in command history context menu. 5. use ctrl-double click &/or context menu item to run command history item directly. 7. include formatting (colour) information when doing a clipboard copy in SQL Command window 8. Allow data editor updates in query results -- abraham &new{2014-05-26 (Mon) 16:52:18};
-- Thank you for your comment. I'll take a moment to think about that. -- reddog &new{2014-05-29 (Thu) 22:42:10};
- My dearst thanks to you: within only a few weeks you solved the mis-direction problem with SHIFT-CONTROL-DOWN. I see there are many good ideas for future improvements. Please allow me one more suggestion including its motivation. -- jwh &new{2014-06-03 (Tue) 05:30:22};
- My dearst thanks to you: within only a few weeks you solved the mis-direction problem with SHIFT-CONTROL-DOWN. I see there are many good ideas for future improvements. Please allow me one more suggestion including its motivation. If you have a master database, a temporary database plus an attached database, then you see three branches: main, temp and e. g. addi. If you now create 'main.weg' and 'temp.weg' and 'addi.weg', you will see all three of them. If you now 'drop table weg', however, you will see them vanish. First 'temp.weg' disappears, then 'main.weg' and lastly 'add.weg'. Probably the same order applies for any 'select * from weg'. Therefore my suggestion is: the hierarchy in the database tree should reflect this sequence, showing the temp-branch first (upmost), the main-branch second, and then the attached databases like addi, thus improving the comprehension of the effects of sqlite statements. -- jwh &new{2014-06-03 (Tue) 05:42:43};
